More Than Water
Post-Workout Drinks That Help Replenish What Your Body Lost During Exercise
By All American Fitness
Water is a healthy beverage that benefits you on a daily basis. After all, our bodies are predominantly made up of water. If you’ve just completed a hard workout, water might not be the first thing that you should grab. There are a number of other beverage choices that can help rehydrate the body, help with recovery and improve energy levels.
COCONUT WATER
Coconut water has really increased in popularity over the past few years. It’s a natural and safe way to replenish the fluids in your body that are depleted because of illness or working out. There are naturally occurring electrolytes in coconut water. You lose things like potassium, sodium, and manganese when you’re sweating excessively. You need to replace these electrolytes in order to retain fluids properly. Potassium and magnesium in coconut water contribute to stellar cardiovascular health.
SPORTS DRINKS
It’s important to rehydrate with electrolyte replacement sports drinks after working out. A lot of people don’t like to drink water after a workout because it doesn’t have much of a taste to it. You can choose your favorite flavor of sports drink before you start your workout. That little bit of sugar you get from these drinks can perk you up and keep you from feeling really hungry after a workout. If you don’t want to consume too much sugar as part of your workout and health routine, you can usually find some sugar-free versions at the grocery store.
CBD WATER
CBD oil has hit the health and wellness market with a vengeance the past couple of years. People are using it for all kinds of ailments, but CBD is beneficial as a way to balance the body overall. If you’re someone who frequently works out, you can use a CBD-infused water product to properly hydrate your body. You can use it after your workout, but CBD water can also be used before and during a workout for better performance.
You don’t have to use one kind of beverage after your workouts are over. You can alternate with what you select. In fact, this is a great way to stay hydrated and provide your body with what it needs to recover faster. Just be sure that you’re replacing what you’re losing during your workout. Our bodies need to be properly hydrated in order to have the proper immune function, heart function, metabolism and much more.
